TGIF, News Viewers. . . Welcome to our Friday Free Chat. This has been another terrible week in the news. You know it’s terrible on earth when stories about space pop up— this week was the story of the discovery of life on planet K2 18b (wait, isn’t that the name of one of the spawns of Elon?🤔)
We won’t escape to that planet, mine it or farm it, we’ll never live there in harmony, but we tell ourselves when we hear about this planet, “see, we’re not alone!”
The excitement over discoveries in space give us a sense of hope and possibility and indicate that we’re not finding a lot of those things here on earth. Instead we’ve got Bad news overload. And lies, made up stories, alternative facts spread by those who can’t face reality. But we have to face it — this is life on earth, here and now, not there or then.
And Planet K2 18b? We can see it from afar, thanks to the incredible JWST and the science behind it, we can imagine star trekky worlds while trying to figure out how to live in this one
