Cosplay Kristi Noem’s purse stolen from DC restaurant with $3K, passport and government badge
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s belongings were stolen over the weekend at a restaurant in Washington, D.C, including her passport, driver’s license, keys and government access badge.
Both the Secret Service and DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the April 20 incident to USA TODAY.
McLaughlin told NewsNation that Noem’s purse contained $3,000 in cash and blank checks.
Hegseth Said to Have Shared Attack Details in Second Signal Chat
The defense secretary sent sensitive information about strikes in Yemen to an encrypted group chat that included his wife and brother, people familiar with the matter said.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed information about forthcoming strikes in Yemen on March 15 in a private Signal group chat that included his wife, brother and personal lawyer, according to four people with knowledge of the chat.
Some of those people said that the information Mr. Hegseth shared on the Signal chat included the flight schedules for the F/A-18 Hornets targeting the Houthis in Yemen — essentially the same attack plans that he shared on a separate Signal chat the same day that mistakenly included the editor of The Atlantic.
Mr. Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer, a former Fox News producer, is not a Defense Department employee, but she has traveled with him overseas and drawn criticism for accompanying her husband to sensitive meetings with foreign leaders.
The Fascist Felon Goes to Bat for Pete Hegseth
“Pete’s doing a great job, just ask the Houthis how he’s doing,” Trump told reporters at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday.
“It’s just fake news. They just bring up stories. It sounds like disgruntled employees,” added the president. “He was put there to get rid of a lot of bad people, and that’s what he’s doing. You don’t always have friends when you do that.”
“He was put there to get rid of a lot of bad people, and that’s what he’s doing,” Trump said of his Pentagon head. “You don’t always have friends when you do that.”

Exclusive: The White House is looking to replace Pete Hegseth as defense secretary
The White House has begun the process of looking for a new secretary of defense, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to speak publicly.
This comes as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth continues to find himself mired in controversy. NPR has also confirmed with the same official that Hegseth shared details ahead of last month’s Yemen strikes with his wife and brother in a Signal chat on his personal phone, minutes after being updated by a senior U.S. military official. The news of the second Signal group chat about the mission was first reported by The New York Times.
Former Pentagon official warns department’s dysfunction could topple Hegseth
“The last month has been a full-blown meltdown at the Pentagon,” John Ullyot, the former top Defense Department spokesperson, wrote in a POLITICO Magazine opinion piece.
The Pentagon is in “total chaos” and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is unlikely to remain in his role, according to its former top spokesperson, who painted a scene of dysfunction, backstabbing and continuous missteps at the highest levels of the department.
“The building is in disarray under Hegseth’s leadership,” John Ullyot wrote Sunday in a POLITICO Magazine opinion piece. “The dysfunction is now a major distraction for the president — who deserves better from his senior leadership.”
