CBS News reports that DUI hire and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently ordered modifications to a room in the Pentagon next to the press briefing room in order to retrofit it with a makeup studio, to prep for television appearances.
In the DOGE days of the Trump administration, this project is costing taxpayers several thousands of dollars, according to two of the multiple sources that revealed the news. The initial estimates were at $40,000 for the renovations, but did get scaled back.
A new director’s chair and large mirror with makeup lighting was installed, but Hegseth is doing his own makeup ahead of TV appearances, not paying for a makeup artist (JD, if you’re listening).
A Defense Department spokesperson did not deny the report, but stated that changes and upgrades to the Pentagon Briefing Room are routine.
The chief Pentagon spokesman, Sean Parnell, along with Mrs. Hegseth, approved of the renovation before it was undertaken.
