Two dead after private plane crashed into homes in San Diego, authorities say
The Cessna 550 was flying in an area of dense fog with an unknown number of people on board.

NBC: UPDATE: Approx. 100 residents evacuated after aircraft crash near Sculpin St & Santo Rd. At least 2 confirmed dead, 8 injured, ~10 buildings damaged. Evacs & road closures remain. NTSB en route. Call 619-531-2000 if you find debris or jet fuel.
Per NBC LIVE:
- A Cessna 550 crashed into a Murphy Canyon neighborhood on Salmon Street just before 4 a.m.
- The San Diego Police Department confirmed two people are dead and eight people injured
- Several homes caught fire as an apparent result of the crash, leading to 100 residents being evacuated from the military housing neighborhood
- A temporary evacuation site is set up at Miller Elementary on 4343 Shields St, San Diego, CA 92124.
- Hancock Elementary School & Miller Elementary School are closed.
It is possible all the fatalities were from inside the plane. Number on the plane unknown. 10 houses destroyed; unknown number of cars.
