Labor Day 2020: We can’t let this be the new normal

Just a bit of history on Labor Day:

  • Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Currently, 24.2 million persons reported that they had been unable to work because their employer closed or lost business due to the pandemic. About 5.2 million persons not in the labor force in August were prevented from looking for work due to the pandemic.

  • The first governmental recognition came through municipal ordinances passed in 1885 and 1886.
  • The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City.

DOL:

^^^^That’s the original artist and songwriter of Manic Monday and his tribute to the working stiff.

So, what are your plans for this special day and the unofficial end of summer? I have a very special young lady whom I made a beautiful strawberry swirl cheesecake with white chocolate ganache for that needs to blow out her candles so, that’s how I’m spending my day…..letting the little princess drive me insane with her Baby Shark nonsense. You’re only two once in your life so, might as well!

Enjoy the day because Tuesday will sure as hell be our Manic Monday of this week. We live in different times but hopefully, that will end…SOON!

Happy Labor Day!
