A tense scene unfolded on Sunday afternoon at a home in Fort Lauderdale owned by Brad Parscale, former Trump campaign manager.
Police were called to the home after Parscale’s wife reported that Parscale had guns and was threatening to harm himself.
Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Karen Dietrich said the police encounter was brief as Parscale didn’t threaten police and left with them willingly under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows police to detain an individual who is a potential threat to himself or others.
He was taken to a hospital.
Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis said, “Politics aside, this fellow obviously suffers from emotional distress. I’m glad he didn’t do any harm to himself or others I commend our SWAT team for being able to negotiate a peaceful ending to this.”
