  • In response to the recent attacks on Asian-Americans, more Asian Americans have purchased firearms:
    • “There are more Asians being introduced to firearms,” said Jimmy Gong, the owner of Jimmy’s Sport Shop in Mineola, New York. “Before, there was never gun culture in the Asian community. But after the pandemic and all the hate crime going on, there are more Asians buying guns to defend themselves.”

Voter Suppression:

  • Arizona Republicans are proposing drastic changes to its mail voting systems, a move that echoes the flurry of election restrictions advanced in GOP-controlled legislatures in a number of states after former President Donald Trump’s election loss.
  • Republican lawmakers in Arizona have introduced at least 22 restrictive bills, according to the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University School of Law.

  • Florida Republican leaders say they are standing by a former Miami-Dade state senator who was arrested on election fraud charges Thursday, rebuking Democratic calls to hold a special election in order to ensure a legitimate vote.
  • A 6-year-old Texas girl was fatally shot by a relative following an argument over spilled water, according to the NBC affiliate in Houston.
