Free Range Free Chat

Hi News Viewers, welcome to the free-ranging convo about all animals, all the time, the planet we live on (yeah, we chat about human animals too, buncha weirdos that we are. . . . šŸ˜¼) In other words, what you have to say is what we want to hear. . . . . (within reason unless it’s funny, then without reason flies too. . . .)

Speaking of weirdos, today’s animals are among the strangest and most bizarre creatures in the world–the animals pictured are a tiny percentage of the weirdness that is the Animal King and Queendom. In fact, these are some of the LEAST bizarre; I may have nightmares tonight over some of the animals I’ve read about for this post; on the other hand, I may also want to start my own animal sanctuary. It’s complicated. . . . . .And I thought people were strange……

The English Angora Rabbit
This rare shark is sometimes even called a ā€œliving fossilā€, ā€œis the only extant representative of the family Mitsukurinidae, a lineage some 125 million years old.ā€ Goblin sharks inhabit the depths greater than 100 m (330 ft), with adults found deeper than juveniles. Given the depths at which it lives, the goblin shark poses no danger to humans
Gerenuk–Found in Africa, this long-necked antelope with a long, slender neck and limbs is also known as giraffe gazelle, the animal spends most of the day foraging and feeding
Unlike other fish and weird animals, the red-lipped batfish actually uses its fins to walk on the ocean floor.

This little octopus looks like a real-life PokƩmon and lives over 5,000 feet under the sea
Venezuelan Poodle Moth:–Discovered in Venezuela in 2009, this new species of alien-looking moth has poodle-like fur covering even its wings.

Clockwise from top left: Rainbow Peacock Tarantula (Australia), Lesula (found in the Congo, the Cercopithecus lomamiensis, is the first new species of monkey found in 28 years) Thorny Dragon or Devil (Australia); The Shoebill (East Africa),

The emperor tamarin monkey has such prominent facial hair that it was named after German Emperor Wilhelm II, a man who was known for his pronounced mustache.
