Florida is leading the nation for confirmed COVID-19 hospitalizations, registering 10,207 patients on Sunday according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Around the state, some hospitals are reporting having to place emergency room patients in hallways, while the age of patients has dropped.
Over the past week, Florida has averaged 1,525 adult hospitalizations a day, and 35 daily pediatric hospitalizations.

Within five days, Devereaux lost her grandmother, mother, and fiance of COVID-19.
Devereaux’s 85-year-old grandmother was vaccinated, but already in ill health when COVID took her life.
“I had to skip going to my Meemaw’s funeral yesterday so I could get to the hospital to say goodbye to my Momma,” Devereaux said. She and her momma were not vaccinated.
Devereaux’s 35-year-old fiance, Britt McCall, was also not vaccinated. Britt worked with his 60-year-old father, Mark McCall, at the county school system before he died. Mark McCall also died. Britt McCall’s mother is still hospitalized.
Devereaux herself tested positive but had mild syptoms. She says she is ready to get vaccinated.
