Florida Has the Highest COVID Death Rate in the U.S.
According to The New York Times COVID-19 tracker, Florida—the third largest state by population—has a death rate of 1.56 per 100,000 people over the last seven days.
Florida has averaged 15,462 new daily cases over the past week, a rate of 72 per 100,000.
Should’ve Got the Vaccine:
The man who started the movement to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom has COVID-19
Orrin Heatlie, the retired Yolo County sheriff’s sergeant who started the recall movement last year, confirmed to The Sacramento Bee that he tested positive for the virus and has been isolating while recovering.
Heatlie said he did not receive the COVID-19 vaccine prior to his infection, and his case was not severe enough to warrant a hospital stay or any extreme measures.
