Several countries have issued travel warnings to their citizens about visiting the US. Uruguay’s Foreign Ministry released a statement that urged their citizens to take extreme precautions when traveling to the United States because of:

…growing indiscriminate violence, mostly for hate crimes, including racism and discrimination, which cost the lives of more than 250 people in the first seven months of this year.

In particular, it is recommended not to go with minors to these places.”

Venezuela also issued similar warnings to their citizens to avoid large gatherings when visiting the United States and to stay away from cities most prone to violence.  The list included cities a recent Forbes article listed as the most dangerous cities in the US : Cleveland; Detroit; Baltimore; St. Louis; Oakland, California; Memphis, Tennessee; Birmingham, Alabama; Atlanta, Stockton, California; and Buffalo, New York.

Japan’s Consulate office in Detroit warned Japanese nationals to “be aware of the potential for gunfire incidents everywhere in the United States,” because the United Statesis “a gun society.”

Mexico has threatened legal action against the US and wants to extradite the alleged shooter in the El Paso mass shooting to Mexico to face charges there.
