Good Thursday morning, NewsViewers, and it is the last Coffee Talk before Christmas!
The elf at my house (me) has been baking cookies and getting together some last minute packages, and it is almost time to plop my butt down on the couch and enjoy some down time until January.
Well, anyway, that’s what’s on my wish list, but there are no guarantees in life.
Let’s grab a mug and — in my case, a raspberry almond shortbread cookie — and let’s get to the nuts and bolts of today’s free chat.
Today’s Topic:
Yesterday it was reported that Lorne Michaels is preparing to exit Saturday Night Live.
“You know, I think I’m committed to doing this show until its 50th anniversary, which is in three years,” Michaels told CBS’s Gayle King.
It’s difficult to think of what a future SNL beyond Lorne Michaels might look like, but it’s possibly even more difficult to process just how many stars have been made from the show originally released in 1975, more than 45 years ago.
The premiere show was hosted by George Carlin, with a cast of characters we’ll never forget.
Who was your favorite entertainer from the cast of Saturday Night Live?
Spill it, if you can — let’s talk about the sketches, the artists who made you laugh in the sketches, and those who made us laugh in their post-SNL careers. Who did the best political impersonations, who gave us the best recurring SNL characters, and who developed into your favorite actors and actresses beyond that New York stage? So many seasons, and so many great entertainers….
Of course, today’s topic is merely a suggested starting point of our free chat today, and there’s a host of other issues that likely need to be discussed.
Enjoy your free chat, and let’s get to Thursday’s business at hand.
