Ted Cruz thinks he’s next in line for the GQP 2024 nomination: “The runner-up is almost always the next nominee.”

Asked whether he would consider launching another White House bid, Cruz responded: ‘Absolutely. In a heartbeat.

In an interview with The Truth Gazette, a conservative news service operated by 15-year-old Hitler Youth Brylin Holland, Ted Cruz argued he was ‘particularly well positioned to win the 2024’ for GQP presidential nomination. He cited his second place, runner-up finish in the 2016 election entitled him to become the party’s nominee.

You know, I ran in 2016. It was the most fun I’ve had in my life. We had a very crowded field. We had 17 candidates in the race, a very strong field. And I ended up placing second.

There’s a reason historically that the runner-up Is almost always the next nominee. And that’s been going back to Nixon or Reagan or McCain or Romney that has played out repeatedly. You come in with just a Normas base of support.

Ted Cruz

During the 2016 GQP presidential campaign, Cruz often sparred with The Former Guy (TFG). TFG insulted Ted Cruz’s wife, linked his father to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, but in the end, Cruz, like others sycophants, emerged as a staunch supporter of TFG. In 2020, Cruz was one of several GQP lawmakers who led the effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election on January 6.
