Hello Darkness, my old friend. Welcome to Coffee Talk again.
“Fools” said I, “You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows…”
Welcome to Thursday and today’s forum of free chat at NewsViews, where we’ve learned to be anything but silent. Today will be no different.
While all of our free chats allow us to chat about the topics of your choice, Coffee Talk offers a suggested topic to start our engines. Feel free to chat about your cat instead, or your hopes and dreams — or the topic off the top of your sleepy head.
Today’s Topic
While we’re busy today focusing on a very important committee’s work, there’s still no signature on any gun deal from our fearless leaders in Congress. Earlier this week, there were two interesting courses of argument I came across that addressed ways to keep kids safe in schools.
One, from a Republican governor:
Another, from a Democratic attorney general:
What ideas do you have to improve the level of safety in schools?
Yes, our schools are “soft targets,” relatively unprotected from gunmen (or gunboys?) with an axe to grind. It appears our government cannot accomplish the heavy lifting and remove the estimated 20 million Ar-15 style assault weapons currently in circulation.
What else can we do to protect children in schools?
Remember that Coffee Talk is always a free chat zone, and does not restrict you to the suggested topic. Feel free to discuss your own topic — and enjoy your Thursday morning.
