More than 15 years ago, the not-yet-husband of not-yet-congresswoman Lauren Boebert was accused of exposing himself to an underage bartender in a Colorado bowling alley. He pleaded guilty to charges of public indecency and lewd exposure and served four days behind bars. But Rep. Boebert, who was present at the bowling alley and 17 years-old, says in a just-released book that it was all a big misunderstanding.
In My American Life, hitting shelves Tuesday, Boebert denies the allegations leveled at her “hunky” husband in 2004, which were first reported by the New York Postlast January. “Instead of fighting for his innocence in court, Jayson took a plea deal, which resulted in him having a permanent criminal record,” Boebert writes, according to Fox News Digital.
She claims in the book that “no one could have known” that the bartender was a minor, adding that the girl had “pressed Jayson” to show her a “great tattoo in a private area.” Jayson, who Boebert admits had had too much to drink, merely “acted like he was going to unzip his pants,” Insider reported Tuesday.
In her version of events, Boebert blames the underage bartender for pushing Jason Boebert to show her his tattooed penis.
After first ignoring her, he “acted like he was going to unzip his pants” after having too much to drink, she wrote. The bowling alley owner tried to kick him out, but he didn’t want to leave. “The two argued, and Jayson threw a basket of fries at the owner,” she wrote. “The police were called.”
The New York Post last year reported that Jayson Boebert exposed himself to two women at the bowling alley and that Lauren Boebert, whose last name was then Roberts, was there. Two women gave statements in the police report that Jayson said he had a tattoo on his penis and then exposed his penis to them. They told the owner of the bowling alley, who called law enforcement.
“He knew the truth —and the truth was, he didn’t do what he was accused of,” she wrote. “But the entire experience opened Jayson’s eyes to the reality that he needed the alcohol and anger management classes that came with the plea deal.” She blames “the Left” for not applauding him for learning from his mistakes.
