A newly released transcript shows that Donald Trump thought a photo of his sexual assault accuser E. Jean Carroll was of his second wife, Marla Maples.
The comments were from a deposition last year at Mar-a-Lago in which Trump tries to defend himself against accusations of rape by suggesting that Carroll was “not his type.” Trump has repeatedly used this excuse in his defense of any sexual assault.
When confronted with the photo during the deposition, Trump said, “That’s Marla, yeah.”
Trump has denied having ever known Carroll, and in response to the photo’s existence, he has said in the past that he was often introduced to people at events that he didn’t know. In the deposition, he said the photo appeared to show him on a “receiving line,” possibly at a charity event, where he met and greeted guests.
The new transcripts were released on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
Last week’s released transcripts revealed Trump falsely claimed that Carroll said in a CNN interview that she enjoyed being raped and repeatedly said she was mentally ill.
