Trump has hired a new lawyer to represent him in E. Jean Carroll’s battery and defamation lawsuit, and Alina Habba is no longer on the case.
According to new court documents filed on Tuesday, Trump hired Joe Tacopina, a New York defense lawyer famous for defending accused murderers, rapists, and fraudsters.
Additional documents appear to show that Tacopina is replacing Alina Habba. Habba and Trump were fined by a judge nearly $938,000 for filing frivolous lawsuits regarding the 2016 election. Hillary Clinton is one of the defendants they owe.

In 2011 the New York Post characterized Tacopina as the most hated lawyer in New York.
According to one prosecutor, “He’s slick, he’s got a big ego, and he’ll represent any scumbag.”
Tacopina’s high-profile celebrity client list has included Alex Rodriguez, rapper Meek Mill, daughter of mob boss Victoria Gotti, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Sean Hannity, Michael Jackson, and Joran van der Sloot.
