Former Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise trip to Ukraine on Thursday, the first GOP 2024 presidential nominee to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Pence’s former boss was impeached when he tried to pressure Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden by withholding military assistance appropriated by Congress.
Pence previously stated that U.S. military aid was being withheld because of Ukraine’s lackluster efforts to fight corruption.
But Mike’s changed his tune.
“We need to make sure we provide the Ukrainian military with what they need to push back on and defeat Russian aggression here,” Pence said.
“America’s the leader of the free world” and that being there “steels my resolve to do my part, to continue to call for strong American support for our Ukrainian friends and allies.”
