Now that Special Counsel Jack Smith has indicted the forever disgraced, former president on four FELONY charges related to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, what are people saying or how is the world reacting? First and foremost, the Grand Jury has charged the forever disgraced, former president with the following:
Three of the four charges focus on conspiracies: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against people’s rights. Notice, nothing about TFG’s speech on the Ellipse or anything related to the First Amendment is in the indictment? In fact, the indictment specifically states that under the First Amendment, the ‘president’ “had the right to lie about the outcome of the election and to maintain that the results were fraudulent.” Remember, the Proud Boys tried using ‘My First Amendment Rights’ argument and it did not go well for them.
Yeah, that appears to be the MAGAt spin, just like they did after the last indictment. They spun it into something, something about the Presidential Records Act of 1978 yet, those indictment contained NOTHING related to it. And to debunk another ludicrous claim is the amount of time taken to charge TFG. Investigations take time; Grand Juries take time; indicting someone, especially a former president, takes time. Plus, there’s the Speedy Trial Act of 1974 that MAGAts have conflated with the actual investigation and Grand Jury proceeding resulting in the four count indictment.
Trump expected to appear at arraignment in person on Thursday
The special counsel’s office is operating under the assumption that Trump will appear in person at his arraignment in Washington on Thursday, an official familiar with the matter told NBC News.
That’s despite some chatter about a possible arraignment taking place virtually, as some had occurred via Zoom during the pandemic.
It was announced in the Department of Justice’s press release that Trump is expected to appear in person.

San Francisco – Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after a federal grand jury voted to indict former President Donald Trump on charges related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election:
“The charges alleged in this indictment are very serious, and they must play out through the legal process, peacefully and without any outside interference. Like every criminal defendant, the former President is innocent until proven guilty. Our Founders made clear that, in the United States of America, no one is above the law – not even the former President of the United States.
“Through the meticulous and patriotic work of the bipartisan Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack, evidence was uncovered about the sinister plot to overturn the presidential election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power, which culminated in deadly insurrection. Now, following the Justice Department’s further investigation, a federal grand jury has indicted the former President.
“As this case proceeds through the courts, justice must be done according to the facts and the law.”
