Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer spoke to CNN about the state of the Biden candidacy, and while one of the strongest allies of the President, CNN and other media outlets have focused on one comment she made:
“I don’t think it would hurt, to be honest” for President Biden to take a cognitive test — but Donald Trump should take one too.

- Whitmer characterized President Biden as a “happy warrior,” who “shows up everyday and fights for the American public.”
- Whitmer said Biden cares about others more than he cares about himself, and in contrast “we have Donald Trump, who’s been convicted of 34 felonies, who cares only about Donald Trump.”
- She denounced the idea of the party choosing a new leader like a game of “fantasy football.”
- “We have a president who’s gotten a nomination, who’s earned it,” Whitmer concluded.
