Good morning News Viewers, members of the jury, esteemed members of the press, and those braving the political circus, this week we witnessed a curious phenomenon at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. At the DNC, you’d think someone slipped Red Bull into the water supply. The crowd was electric—cheering, chanting, and generally behaving like they’d just discovered their candidate comes with a lifetime supply of free prescription drugs. It was less of a convention and more of a full-blown rave, where the only thing missing was a DJ dropping the bass Harris/Walz endorsement by Taylor Swift.
On the other side, we had the RNC, where the energy level was about as thrilling as a rectal exam. The applause was polite, the cheers were measured, and at times it felt like the crowd was more interested in counting ceiling tiles than getting fired up. If the DNC was a rock concert, the RNC was more like waiting for your turn at the doctor’s office—calm, quiet, and everyone just hoping it would be over quickly.
Whatever your jam was, it is time for your weekly political cartoon palette cleanser after a Tale of Two Conventions dominating the news cycle.
Signed,
The Dutch Jack Smith, sitting in for the lovely Rachel Kennedy
