“Many months ago I promised the American people I would withdraw from the race if I became a spoiler. … In my heart, I no longer believe I have a realistic path to electoral victory,” said Robert Kennedy Jr in a press conference in Arizona on Friday.
Kennedy said he would only work to remove his name from ballots in swing states because he wanted to give his to give his supporters in “red states” and “blue states” a chance to vote for him without “harming or helping.”
He also seemed to think if he remained on the ballot, he could still be eligible to rise to the White House if neither Trump nor Harris won an Electoral College majority.
Kennedy whined about the Democratic Party “abandoning democracy,” blasted the naysayers for not believing he could have a successful campaign, and blamed both the media and Democrats of a conspiracy that kept him from being competitive.
Kennedy said both he and Trump were victims of the “continual legal warfare” by Democrats, and compared Harris’s grip on the party to that of Vladimir Putin.
Kennedy now supports Donald Trump
Citing three causes, free speech, the war in Ukraine, and the war on our children, Kennedy says Trump has asked to “enlist” him to his administration.
According to NBC sources, Donald Trump Jr. had been pushing for a negotiation with Kennedy for about six months, feeling that Kennedy’s presence in the race was hurting Big Orange’s chances. About a week before the Republican convention, Tucker Carlson brokered a meeting between Kennedy and Trump Jr.
The meeting apparently brought Kennedy to believe that he and Trump “are aligned on many key issues.”
"If President Trump is elected and honors his word, the vast burden of chronic disease that now demoralizes and bankrupts the country will disappear," Kennedy said. "President Trump has told he wants this to be his legacy," Kennedy continued. "I'm choosing to believe that this time he will follow through. His son, his biggest donors and his closest friends all support this objective."
