Bomb Threats at Several Buildings in Springfield, Ohio

After MAGAts spread the baseless claim that Haitian migrants are eating pets and waterfowl in Springfield, Ohio, multiple agencies and media outlets received bomb threats via email.

“Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our employees and residents. We are working to address this situation as swiftly as possible,” the office said. “We ask the community to avoid the area surrounding City Hall vicinity while the investigation is ongoing and to report any suspicious activity to the Springfield Police Division.”

The city has seen significant turmoil this year, and especially this week, over public response to 10,000 to 15,000 Haitians moving to the city over the past few years. City Commission meetings are packed with upset residents, and the issue was raised during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

Officials in Springfield have tried to tamp down the misinformation by saying there have been no credible or detailed reports of any pets being abducted or eaten. State leaders are trying to help address some of the real challenges facing the city.

Gov. Mike DeWine said Tuesday he would add more law enforcement and health care resources to an aid package the state has already provided to Springfield.
