Man Charged in Trump Plot Wrote Letter

...according to DOJ filing

Ryan Routh, charged with two gun charges in the apparent assassination attempt on Trump, dropped off a box at a person’s home that included a letter that declared, “This was an assassination attempt,” a court document revealed Monday.

A U.S. District Court filing asking that Routh be detained before trial brought the letter to light.

The letter, addressed to “The World,” said, “This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster. It is up to you now to finish the job; and I will offer $150,000 to whomever can complete the job.”

According to the filing, the witness took a photograph of the first page of the letter, shown below.

According to the filing, a civilian contacted law enforcement on September 18 and said that Routh had dropped off a box at his residence several months earlier. In that box was ammunition, four phones and various letters.

The civilian said that he opened the box after learning about the golf course incident on September 15.

An update following the court proceeding with Routh, who was denied bond and is being held in Florida.
