Breaking News: Letitia James, the New York attorney general who defeated Trump in court, indicted by Justice Department

New York Attorney General Letitia James was indicted Thursday in Alexandria, Virginia, as President Donald Trump’s Justice Department continues to pursue charges against his political opponents, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

James has been under investigation since May over a 2023 mortgage she took out to help her niece buy a home in Norfolk, Virginia.

The charges come as Trump continues to call for his enemies to be prosecuted in court. Former FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty Wednesday to allegedly making a false statement in a congressional proceeding. The Justice Department has also opened investigation into former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, California Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff, and others.

Gaza plan live updates: Trump says hostages will be released ‘Monday or Tuesday’ as he plans travel to Middle East

President Donald Trump has announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed on the first phase of a ceasefire deal — but there are significant lingering questions about what the 20-point plan will mean for the future of the Gaza Strip.

“This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

TRUMP: “Gaza’s gonna be slowly re-done. You have tremendous wealth in that part of the world.” Sure sounds like that giant real estate deal coming together, like he (and Smotrich) have openly said. Anyone wanna bet Trump’s family gets a nice piece of the action?

Chicago puts up a fight against Trump, deployment of National Guard troops

Eric Harvey is furious about the deployment of the National Guard to Illinois, the city of Chicago, and his neighborhood.

“That’s a publicity stunt, man!” Harvey, who lives in the south side, said.

This summer Chicago’s homicide rate was the lowest since the 1960s. So, Harvey can’t believe hundreds of troops have arrived in Illinois to make the city any safer. President Trump has called Chicago a “war zone” and has claimed the city’s crime rate is unsustainable.

The Gestapo:

Everything we have always been. This is border policing. Americans did not care when it was just on the southern border. If you read my book from 3.5 yrs ago, you would know this.

Note to MAGAts:

Trump’s economic policies are hurting his supporters. He’s cancelled investment in red-states, slashed health care spending, and ruined the market for farmers. “Trump won’t rest so long as there is a single MAGA voter left employed.” From Ryan Cooper: trib.al/uGwl968

asked why he's going to Walter Reed tomorrow for his second physical exam since the start of the year, Trump brags about the cognitive exam he took in 2020, which he describes as "not the easiest test … there aren't a lot of people in this room that would get every single question right."

The prize wasn't awarded to Obama for 'nothing.' The prize was awarded in the hope that Obama had staved off the specter of an America governed by folks like the man below.

Shapiro: I filed that amicus brief last night to make it very clear that the Pennsylvania National Guard is under my command. The way the President has chosen to deploy the Guard in other states—and, in at least one case, deploy the Guard from one state into another—is extremely dangerous.

Gov. Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, a Republican and the chairman of the National Governors Association, on Thursday criticized the deployment of Texas National Guard troops to Illinois as a violation of his beliefs in federalism and “states’ rights.”
