Trump’s Walmart Thanksgiving Dinner Spin Gets Roasted

When the White House social media account shared Trump’s false claims that Walmart Thanksgiving dinners were “down 25% since under Sleepy/Crooked Joe Biden,” readers swiftly corrected the statement with a community note that added context to the claims.

Readers on X noted that Walmart’s 2025 Thanksgiving meal includes only 15 items, compared to 21 in 2024 and that many name-brand products were swapped for cheaper Great Value alternatives.

The clarification links directly to Walmart’s own corporate press releases from October 2024 and October 2025, showing that the retailer changed both the meal’s composition and branding. 

Despite Trump’s claim that “affordability is a Republican stronghold,” the supposed 25% savings appear to come from downsizing and substitutions, not from any real drop in price.
