The White House social media account posted two mysterious videos on Wednesday night that left viewers questioning whether the account had been hacked or if they were intentionally teasing the public.
The posts racked up millions of views, both without context.
The first was dropped at 9:15pm, and appeared to be a brief, 4-second clip shot with a cell phone that showed a woman’s shoes and a female voice saying, “It’s launching soon, right?” The video was removed from X and Instagram approximately 90 minutes later.
The second short video, posted at 10pm, showed a black, staticky screen with a phone notification sound playing. An American flag was visible in one frame.
The White House account has a history of trolling with meme-style content. It was later discovered the videos remained in the account’s Instagram file.
