Fox News host Brian Kilmeade apologized on Sunday for remarks he made on Wednesday — four days later — that called for “involuntary lethal injections or something — just kill them” when homeless mentally ill people refuse government programs for help.
The discussion on Wednesday’s Fox and Friends included Lawrence Jones and Ainsley Earhardt, and revolved around the conservative culture war issue of crime in major cities, citing the August killing of a white Ukrainian refugee by a Black man in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I’m obviously aware that not all mentally ill homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina, and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion,” Kilmeade said Sunday.
Kilmeade said his remarks were “extremely callous” and he “wrongly said” they should get lethal injections.
