Trump administration tells judge it will partially fund SNAP benefits using contingency funds

A federal judge ruled Friday that the Agriculture Department must disburse funding for SNAP, also known as food stamps.

The Trump administration said in court filings Monday that it would use contingency funds to provide partial SNAP benefits in November after a judge on Friday ordered the Department of Agriculture to disburse funding for the program.

The administration said that it would use all $4.65 billion in contingency funds, which will cover about half of each eligible household’s benefits this month.

Michigan terrorism suspects were plotting to attack Ferndale, feds say

Three days after announcing their arrests on social media, the federal government brought criminal charges against two metro Detroit men, alleging they plotted to carry out a terror attack over Halloween weekend in Ferndale, except the FBI got to them first.

According to a criminal complaint filed on Monday, Nov. 3, Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud are both charged with receiving and transferring, and attempting and conspiring to transfer, firearms and ammunition to commit terrorism. They both were due to appear in federal court for initial appearances at 1 p.m. on Nov. 3.

The defendants have been described by one defense lawyer as being video gamers and recreational gun enthusiasts who were engaged in puffery, nothing else.

But the FBI tells a different story, alleging the men were part of a bigger group that shared extremist and ISIS-related materials in encrypted chats and on social media, discussed and encouraged terror attacks, bought AR-15 rifles and loads of ammo, held numerous gun training exercises over three months, and scouted out locations in Ferndale as potential targets for their alleged attack.

The Economy:

With Trump’s focus elsewhere, the economy shows signs of trouble

One Trump voter told NBC News that while she believes Trump “deep down” wants to boost the economy, “he is busy out of the country” and focused on “demolishing the White House.”

Along with the loss of SNAP benefits and the disruption of other social service programs for millions of people, the government shutdown has resulted in federal employees going without pay. Many of them have turned to food banks and unemployment benefits to get by.

Ewww!:

This statement about “young children” being something under 14 seems particularly detestable given Trump’s close personal relationship with Jeffery Epstein. #ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles youtu.be/BbiXMQwBEaA?…
