Trump is now imploring Congress to write checks “to the people” as an alternative to funding health insurance companies under Obamacare.
Trump proposed on Saturday morning essentially gutting the ACA because of “BIG BAD Insurance Companies.”
Also, he still wants to end the filibuster in the Senate.
All of this after a shellacking of the GOP in the 2025 elections.
Trump wasn’t clear on how consumers would purchase health care from someone other than an insurance company. Trump also overestimated the amount of premium support being paid out, which is estimated at about $138 billion for 2025.
There are around 260 million adults in the United States as of 2024 according to the U.S. Census Bureau, and, with spending for Obamacare subsidies alone topping out at around $125 billion that same year, Trump’s proposal could see Americans each receive a check for at least $481. If Trump’s proposal included all of the government’s spending on health care, which in 2023 was about $1.6 trillion, Americans could each receive a check for about $6,150.
Medicare scammer Sen. Rick Scott says he is on it!
