Johnson Now Leading Effort to Release Epstein Files Ahead of Mass GOP Defection

House Speaker Mike Johnson quickly scheduled a vote to release the Epstein files in their entirety after realizing there is a red wave of GOP defectors willing to support the bipartisan push on the DOJ.

Supporters are pushing for a veto-proof majority. Thomas Massie is hopeful it would pressure the Senate to also act. It would require two-thirds of the House — or 290 votes if all members are present — for a veto-proof majority.

GOP sources say there is a broad cross section willing to support the plan, and it will be difficult to limit the defections. Apparently Mike Johnson is waving the white flag of surrender, and is ready to push the effort over to the Senate to deal with it.

Johnson has given Trump a heads up on the plan, and this morning the two are reverting back to their default denial plan.
