Michelle Obama Says the U.S. Is Not Ready for a Woman to be President

Former FLOTUS Michelle Obama said at a recent event in Brooklyn that the country is not ready for a woman to be president.

“That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running ‘cause you all are lying. You’re not ready for a woman,” Obama told Ellis Ross. “We got a lot of growing up to do and there’s still … a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman and we saw it.”

Obama was speaking with actress Tracee Ellis Ross in New York to promote her new book, “The Look,” which is about her approach to fashion and politics as First Lady.

“During our family’s time in the White House, the way I looked was constantly being dissected — what I wore, how my hair was styled. For a while now, I’ve been wanting to reclaim more of that story, to share it in my own way,” Obama wrote in a social media post about her book.

While Michelle Obama is one of the most popular and effective surrogates for Democrats, she has repeatedly shut down any speculation she would run for office.
