‘This is not a peaceful protest!’
In the immediate aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, American political leaders almost universally condemned the riot as an act of domestic terrorism that threatened democracy. Now, President Trump calls Jan. 6 a “day of love” and the rioters “great patriots.” And since he issued mass pardons to the rioters, his administration has been trying to rewrite history.
NPR has tracked every Jan. 6 prosecution in a public database, and, drawing on thousands of hours of footage and years of reporting, created a front-line account of the riot. The evidence vividly shows the planning for “revolution” and the brutality of violence on a day that continues to shape American politics.

Fact-checking Donald Trump following U.S. attacks on Venezuela and capture of Nicolás Maduro
Rubio: “It’s just not the kind of mission that you can pre-notify (Congress about) because it endangers the mission.”
The administration’s lack of warning to Congress bucks laws and precedents.
Note to Those Who Do Not Know How Things Work: President Obama did not invade Pakistan or engage in an act of war, nor was Osama bin Laden a leader of that country, NOR did ‘Obama kill Obama’ in the process; EPIC FAIL.
Jeffries: "It was an act of war…Only Congress has the power to declare war…We've got to make sure when we return to Washington, DC, that legislative action is taken to ensure that no further military steps occur absent explicit Congressional approval."

Since Congress passed the 1973 War Powers Resolution, the president has had to report to Congress within 48 hours of introducing the U.S. military into hostilities and terminate the use of the military within 60 days unless Congress approves. If approval is not granted and the president deems it an emergency, an additional 30 days are granted for ending operations.
Trump: Each U.S. boat strike off the coast of Venezuela saves 25,000 people.

McMath!: The Trump administration has struck at least 32 vessels killing about 115 people in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean since September. Trump said previously that the boats were carrying drugs en route to the U.S. and during the press conference he said the drugs on each boat would kill “on average, 25,000 people.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 73,000 U.S. drug overdose deaths from May 2024 to April 2025. That means the drugs on 32 boats would have been responsible for 800,000 deaths, nearly 11 times the number of U.S. overdose deaths in one year.

See, it’s not hard to denounce this and toe it into the larger pattern of criminality.

The Fascist Felon and His Brownshirts:
One thing I’m struck by is how just plain unhappy Marco Rubio looks in every picture or interview. At least Hegseth looks like he’s having fun cos-playing “Secretary of War”; Rubio seemingly hates every moment of his life, even moments like this that are huge policy triumphs for him.

No one believes this. We don't, they don't, even their supporters don't. There's no point on having these guys on to tell lies that no one believes and not push back.

Swalwell: He couldn't run a casino, and now he's going to run a country in South America while he fails to run a country in North America?

Jeffries: "Donald Trump claims that he's going to run Venezuela. He's done a terrible job running the United States of America…The notion that he's going to run Venezuela and make life better for the Venezuelan people, of course, is belied by the facts as to what he's done as president here."

Craven Assholes:
Bash: "What does it mean for the U.S. to 'run' Venezuela?" Tom Cotton: "It means the new leaders of Venezuela need to meet our demands." Bash: "But he literally turned around and pointed to his secretaries of state, defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and said they're going to run Venezuela."

MARGE RIPS TRUMP’S 🇻🇪 ATTACK: “This is the same Washington playbook we’re so sick and tired of, that doesn’t serve the 🇺🇸 people… it serves big corporations, banks, and oil executives — our neighborhood is in the 50 United States, not the southern hemisphere.”
