A man, identified as 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak, was arrested and booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of third-degree assault, Minneapolis police said. Representative Ilhan Omar held a town hall. Moments before the attack, she called for the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to resign or face impeachment. Calls are mounting on Capitol Hill for Noem to step down after the shooting deaths in Minneapolis of two people who protested deportations. Few Republicans have risen to her defense.
“ICE cannot be reformed,” Omar said, seconds before the attack. and while she admonished ICE and called for abolishing the agency, Kazmierczak leaped to the podium and sprayed the Congresswoman with an unknown liquid that people in attendance stated smelled horribly.
Congresswoman did not back down to her bully and refused medical attention at that moment:
“We will continue,” she said. “These fucking assholes are not going to get away with it!”
“We are Minnesota strong, and we will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us. I learned at a young age that you don’t give into threats.”

What we know about Anthony Kazmierczak
Details about the suspect are still emerging following the attack Tuesday, but a neighbor described him as a “pretty conservative guy” who “doesn’t like Omar.”
Kazmierczak has a history of sharing posts about politics on social media, on a Facebook profile under the name “Andy,” including criticism of the Biden administration.
He also has two previous DUI convictions, according to court records seen by CNN. The outlet added that Kazmierczak has been married and divorced twice.
