Trump and Putin Speak about Ukraine and Iran Wars

Trump said he and Russian President Putin had spoken on Wednesday, for about 90 minutes according to Russian state media TASS, and the two discussed the wars in Ukraine and Iran.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that his old friend Putin was thinking about “a little bit of a ceasefire” at Trump’s suggestion. The little bit of a ceasefire would coincide with Russia’s Victory Day on May 9 when a military parade commemorates the Soviet Union victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.

However, in light of the ongoing war in Ukraine, Russia has scaled back plans for the parade through Moscow’s Red Square, eliminating the imposing tanks from the procession.

Conversely, Putin suggested his own tips for his comrade Trump’s war of choice in Iran, expressing his own desire to also play an active role there.

“He told me he’d like to be involved with the enrichment if he can help us get it,” Trump told reporters. “I said, I’d much rather have you be involved with ending the war with Ukraine. To me, that would be more important.”

Trump also suggested the Iran War and the Ukraine War were on a similar timeline for a drawdown, not concluding which war would end first, and seemed to confuse Ukraine and Iran.
