Amazon is now considering a reboot of the reality show that brought fame, fortune, and the U.S. Presidency to Donald Trump, with a spin-off starring Donald Trump Jr.
Brought to you by the same studio that made Melania a “movie star” by sinking $75 million into her documentary about nothing, Amazon’s studios are in the early stages of discussing another round of the Trumps’ star power with the new show. People in the know spoke with the Wall Street Journal about the prospect.
Executives have reportedly already floated the idea of Don Jr. in the lead role, but no host has officially been chosen according to an Amazon spokesperson, and have not yet reached out to the president’s son. The show is not currently in development.
Director Brett Ratner was given a $40 million budget by Amazon to produce the Melania movie, reportedly three times as much as the next highest bidder, according to Senator Elizabeth Warren. “The logical explanation is that Amazon is trying to buy the President’s favor by dumping millions into the Trump family’s pockets. This looks like bribery in plain sight,” Warren said.
