Incumbent Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy lost his senate primary as Donald Trump’s Loyalty and Revenge Tour marches on, finishing in last place.
Cassidy had served two terms as a US Senator and was one of seven senators who voted to convict Trump after the January 6 insurrection impeachment.
Rep. Julia Letlow, Trump’s chosen candidate, finished well ahead, drawing about 45 percent of the vote. John Fleming, the state treasurer and a former Trump administration official, edged out Cassidy to finish second, with about 28 percent of the vote. Cassidy finished his Senate career with 25 percent of the vote. Letlow and Fleming will advance to a run-off on June 27.
Trump celebrated his death-grip on MAGA voters (in Louisiana) in a Truth Social post:

There are only two remaining US Senators remaining in office who voted to convict Trump in 2021: Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski.
Cassidy lost his position in the US Senate, but not before saddling the country with Robert Kennedy Jr as Health Secretary.
Cassidy was a gastroenterologist, chair of the Senate health committee, and strong proponent of vaccines before selling his soul to Trump and confirming RFK Jr, a vaccine skeptic and road kill collector.
