Iran Leader Vows Revenge on Trump, Talks with Oman on the Future of the Strait

Since a weeklong funeral for Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei that saw calls for the killing of Trump, a deal for an end to the war and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz remains elusive.

In a written message on Saturday, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, who has been out of public view, vowed revenge for the killing of his father and predecessor, saying it was the “demand of our nation.”

Trump has issued more threats on Truth Social, and demanded that Iran issue a statement that the Strait of Hormuz is open for traffic, and that ships are safe from attack.

Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister is in Oman for talks on the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

Oman has previously proposed jointly administering safe passage through the Strait alongside Iran, with potential service fees on ships in the passageway. Before the war, passage through the Strait was free.
