Salty grapes Haley Stevens, who lost the Democratic primary for Michigan Senate to Abdul El-Sayed, stepped out to join Mike Rogers at Detroit’s Perfecting Church on Sunday, and in a video announcement endorsed the Republican.
“I’m still a very proud Democrat; I still very much believe in everything I voted for and said,” Stevens said.
El-Sayed and Stevens were scheduled to appear at a Sunday church event hosted by Jim Clyburn, but El-Sayed asked her not to come after she criticized him for not condemning an outside ad that she called “antisemitic.”
El-Sayed criticized the ad, but apparently did not condemn the ad to Salty Grapes’ liking.
Stevens had said she would support her party’s ticket — but apparently not today.
A person familiar with the matter confirmed that Stevens’ longtime chief of staff Justin German, as well as several other staff members in her congressional office, are resigning over Stevens’ decision to endorse Rogers.
