Lauren Boebert’s campaign is asking questions about the vote counting process in Colorado’s fourth district, even as the counting remains in progress and she trails her Democratic opponent.
Boebert’s lawyer issued a statement late on Thursday evening, insinuating a recount would be forthcoming. By law, Boebert would be responsible to pay for a recount if the margin is larger than 0.5%.
Team Boebert says they see “some very unusual voting patterns.”
Democrat Eileen Laubacher, a retired two-star United States Navy rear admiral, led Boebert with 48.8 percent of the vote against 47.9 percent in the contest for Colorado’s 4th congressional district.
Overall an estimated 97 percent of votes had been counted and another 12,000 outstanding, according to NBC News as of 7:30 a.m. ET on Friday.
