CDC overhauls childhood vaccine schedule to resemble Denmark in unprecedented move

The new U.S. guidelines recommend all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Monday an unprecedented overhaul of the childhood vaccine schedule that recommends fewer shots to all children.

Under the change — effective immediately — the vaccine schedule will more closely resemble Denmark’s, recommending all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule.

Senior Health and Human Services officials said the changes are meant to restore trust in public health that spilled over from the Covid pandemic.

“The loss of trust during the pandemic not only affected the COVID-19 vaccine uptake. It also contributed to less adherence to the full CDC childhood immunization schedule, with lower rates of consensus vaccines such as measles, rubella, pertussis, and polio,” reads the scientific assessment the agency based its decision on.

Oklahoma Health Department Refuses to Share County-Level Measles Data

Outbreaks of measles and whooping cough in Oklahoma have led to calls for greater transparency from the Oklahoma State Department of Health as the state stands alone in only sharing measles cases on a statewide basis.

Infectious disease and public health experts said the timely sharing of cases with the public can help communities mitigate the spread of disease.

Dr. George Monks, a Tulsa dermatologist and former president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association, has been trying for months to get the state Health Department to share more data. He’s employed social media cajoling, open records requests and complaints to the attorney general’s public access counselor, to no avail.

‘I Predicted Bin Laden’: Trump Claims 9/11 Could Have Been Prevented If US Had Listened to Him

President Donald Trump said that he predicted the threat of 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden, claiming on Sunday that the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center could have been prevented if U.S. officials had listened to him.

Trump spoke to reporters aboard Air Force One, alongside Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

During the gaggle, Graham encouraged Democrats to celebrate the military action that captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, telling press that “when Bin Laden went down, I was the first to applaud President [Barack] Obama.”

Trump insists he warned Pete Hegseth one year before 911 about Osama bin Laden, claiming his book, title forgotten has a page saying he didn’t like bin Laden. He’s like a drunk uncle at Thanksgiving who suddenly remembers he “predicted” 9/11.
