Following ICE Barbie’s clown show hearings before Congress this week, POTUS is privately asking Republicans if he should fire the Homeland Security Secretary, according to multiple GOP figures who have spoken with Trump.
Trump was said to be especially upset about Noem’s response when Sen. John (Pitchfork) Kennedy pressed her Tuesday about a government-funded $220 million ad campaign that Kennedy said only served to boost her own personal name recognition nationally. There was also a lot of questioning about the husband of Tricia McLaughlin, former DHS spokesperson, being awarded the contract.
Noem said repeatedly that Trump personally approved the controversial ad blitz featuring her in the lead role. This has so angered Trump that Noem’s future at DHS may be at risk.
Republicans are apparently concerned that a replacement might not be confirmed by the Senate when there are some Republicans who are feeling emboldened to oppose Trump. There is also the matter of the current DHS funding shutdown, which they worry could provide a bargaining advantage to Democrats.
