White House Lawn Being Turned Into UFC Circus Gimmick

Crews at the White House are constructing what is supposed to be a temporary structure, an octagon-shaped 90-foot high cage that will tower over the South Lawn for a UFC bout that will mark the nation’s 250th anniversary on June 14, Trump’s 80th birthday.

The fight space will be ringed by a red, white, and blue stage beneath the arch that features a stars and stripes pattern. Surrounding the stage, 5,000 seats will be placed for spectators, along with two big screens and space for a full marching band.

Additional big screens will be placed at the nearby Ellipse where an additional 75,000 to 100,000 fans can watch for free.

Weigh-ins are scheduled to occur at the Lincoln Memorial, the same place where Trump intends to erect a 250-foot arch.

Who is on the card?

  • Brazil’s Alex Pereira will meet France’s Ciryl Gane for the interim UFC heavyweight title.
  • Then Spanish-Georgian lightweight champion Ilia Topuria takes on interim champ Justin Gaethje, one of only two Americans who currently hold even a share of the UFC’s 11 championship belts.
