Ted Cruz Among MAGAs Pushing False Claims that Covid Vaccines Caused Miscarriages

Senator Lyin’ Ted Cruz was promoting false claims that Covid vaccines given to women pregnant in their first or second trimester resulted in an 82% miscarriage rate.

Cruz made the claims on a podcast which he shared to X, and was later community noted.

Michigan MAGAt Lisa McClain also shared the false claim on Fox Business, who later corrected the nonsense in an on-air retraction.

The 82% figure comes from a misreading of data from a New England Journal of Medicine study that in reality showed a miscarriage rate of 12.6% among participants with completed pregnancies, which is a rate well within the normal expected rate of miscarriage among all participants who received a vaccine.

MAGAts are using disinformation, citing a figure of 82% of participants with miscarriages by excluding all of the women who gave birth successfully after taking a vaccine in the third trimester.

Of course, Cruz and McClain are not the only ones pushing false information.
