Michael Cohen, former fixer and star witness in the Stormy Daniels hush money case his that brought 34 felony convictions to his old boss Donald Trump, interviewed Trump on his New York radio program and aired pre-recorded portions on Thursday.
The program intro featured the song “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” playing in the background.
Cohen, who previously likened Trump to a mobster, called him “sir” six times, “Mr. President” four times and “boss” once.
“I respect the fact that you recanted everything you said,” said Trump, as the two discussed being victims of weaponization.
FACT CHECK: Cohen has expressed misgivings about testifying and accused prosecutors of posing leading questions, but has not “recanted everything.”
While Cohen was attempting to remind Trump of what a loyal servant he had once been, Trump was not very interested in meandering down memory lane. He went on with his greatest hits — talking about his successful war with Iran, the hot economy, radical Democrats, and his awesome poll numbers.
Cohen ended the interview crooning a lyric from a Peaches & Herb 1978 love song: “Reunited, and it feels so good…”
