Former President George W. Bush was a key figure at a Dallas fundraiser on Monday, along with Texas Senator John Cornyn, rallying behind several GOP Senate candidates. Noticeably absent from the list of recipients was Ken Paxton.
The event for the Maintain the Majority fundraising committee focused on candidates who are defending Republican-held seats in Maine, Ohio, Alaska and Iowa and looking to flip seats in Michigan and New Hampshire. Michelle Tafoya in Minnesota was also a late addition.
Ken Paxton has badly trailed his Democratic opponent James Talarico in the race for Texas, who hasn’t elected a Democrat for Senate in three decades.
In 2022, Paxton defeated George P. Bush, the former president’s nephew, in the Republican primary for Texas attorney general.
