House Democrats Grill Kristi Noem in Funding Fight

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are grilling DHS Secretary Kristi Noem about immigration enforcement and new restrictions they want to put on federal agents in exchange for funding her department.

For the second day, Noem has been in the hot seat about her department agents killing U.S. citizens and utilizing brutal tactics in their deportation operations, as she lobbies to restore funding to Homeland Security which was cut off two weeks ago.

Most Republicans have sat on their hands in today’s hearing, unlike yesterday’s Senate hearing. House Republicans for the most part are praising dear leader Trump and his mass deportation scheme, and focusing their sympathies on families of victims of undocumented immigrants.

Rep. Jamie Raskin discussed Noem’s luxury plane and the incident in which Cory Lewandowski fired a pilot over her blankie. And then some.

Rep. Joe Neguse discussed Noem’s $200 million ad contract.

Rep. Lou Correa questioned Noem about ICE creating a database of protesters, as she denied the accusations. Correa rolled the tape.

Correa wanted to know why citizens might need to carry a passport with them, and why they would be detained anyway by government agents even if they carried a passport.

Rep. Pramilla Jayapal introduced Noem to U.S. citizens who were unlawfully detained.

According to Noem, more than 100,000 DHS employees have been furloughed, noting that critical federal employees at agencies like the TSA are working without pay.
