Russia is providing intellligence to Iran on the location of U.S. forces in the Middle East that could help locate American warships, radar or other communication systems.
Much of that intelligence includes imagery from Moscow’s sophisticated constellation of overhead satellites.
There is no evidence that Russia is helping to direct missile or drone strikes in the region, as Iran has been targeting U.S. bases and other American targets.
On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his government was receiving political and other assistance from Russia and China but declined to elaborate. “They are supporting us politically and otherwise,” Araghchi said.
