A group of masked Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian woman and an NBC News crew in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on Saturday.
The woman along with her family was being interviewed by the news team of three in the Palestinian town of Jalud when they were attacked by at least four men with their faces covered, being hit with clubs and rocks.
“They jumped out, beat us, then jumped back in the car,” said NBC News international correspondent Matt Bradley, who was hit twice in the arm and later treated at a nearby clinic. A cameraman and a producer were also injured and treated.
The woman, Aida Ahmed Abdullah, was treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Benjamin Netanyahu and his spokespeople condemned the violent attack, along with other incidents that happened on Saturday that included Israeli settlers spraying pepper spray at Palestinian workers and throwing rocks at buildings.
Netanyahu characterized the attacks as committed by a “handful of rioters” who violate the law and cause injustice to the law-abiding public, hindering the IDF mission, and causing harm to Israel’s “standing in the world.”
Netanyahu’s hard-line government has been accused of turning a blind eye to the settler attacks in the West Bank, which many governments around the world consider illegally occupied. In its statement after the attack, Israeli security forces said they “strongly condemn all forms of violence.”
