Welcome back to Caravan Season:
Thanks, MTG, don’t say we didn’t tell you so.
Apparently they haven’t hit farmers and ranchers hard enough.
Seventh generation farmer in Illinois, John Yeley, questions whether he wants his 16-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter to take over because the current economics are so rough.

Farmers and experts agree the farming industry is in a painful recession, with Trump’s trade war cutting access to markets, wars in Iran and Ukraine skyrocketing fertilizer and diesel fuel costs, and higher interest rates on loans leaving farmers like Yeley unsure if their farms will yield a profit this year, even with prices for soybeans and corn up.
“We’re not a big county, but we’ve had three farmers go under this year,” said Yeley. “I know that’s on the minds of everybody, is it really worth it to keep going on? The stress level is pretty high.” — CNN
